What does the word arachnoiditis mean?

Arachnoiditis

Arachnoiditis is a chronic inflammation of the arachnoid layer of the meninges, which are the coverings of the brain and spinal cord.
Arachnoiditis has been known to the medical profession for many years as a rare complication of spinal surgery, trauma and meningitis. The major symptom is severe chronic intractable pain, usually in the lower back, legs and feet initially, characteristically described as burning.

Doctors do not tell their patients before their epidural steroid injection that the procedure they will be having is with a drug being injected that contains a steroid and two neurotoxins PEG (Polyethylene Glycol)and MGPC (Myristyl Gamma Picolium Chloride) and some may have Benzyl Alcohol in the multi-dose forms. Look up the drugs Methylprednisolone Acetate (Depomedrol), Kenalog, Celestone Soluspan (Betamethasone Acetate) and read the package inserts of these drugs that are not recommended by their manufacturer to be injected into the epidural space. Iatrogenic causes are arachnoiditis, meningitis, bladder and bowel dysfunction and other adverse events if they injected into the spine intrathecally/epidural and this procedre may cause a dura puncture too, depending on the needle placement, even with the use of fluoroscopy. Dr's are using these drugs for off label use. Do not have these injections! The pain relief one gets may last minimal, if any relief at all. It is not worth taking the chance of having a puncture that will cause adverse events and chronic pain for the rest of one's life.
