My back goes out about once or twice a month for no reason; the last time it went out, I could not lift my right leg because it hurt when I lifted my leg up. Now the pain is in my hip and it has lasted more then a week.

Pain in the Hip

The sciatic nerve is the longest nerve in your body, stretching from the end of your spine all the way down to your feet. When it gets pinched, it can cause pain anywhere along its length (lower back on one side, in the lower buttock, or down one leg).
Sciatica is something that can hang around for months or may just disappear. It is not uncommon for it to come back, but it could also be years before it does so.
